On Sunday, 2 days before CES officially opened, an official media event called CES Unveiled took place. All awardees could present their stuff on a 5-metre booth with a table and a black curtain behind to separate the aisles. Everything was a bit improvised. All companies had the same booths, billions-revenue international groups beside 10-person startups. A nice setting.

Just after our DVN Shanghai event first week of December 2024, I took time to visit Hasco Vision HQ and main R&D center, just 2km away from our event, to meet Mr. Ao, Vice General Manager of Hasco Vision.

I went to Gothenburg in August, when southern Europe is enjoying holidays, but northern Europe is already working again. While there, I spent time with Polestar’s lighting design team to discuss their latest products.

Axel Maschka is the executive vice president at Mobis. He graciously shared his thoughts with me:

DVN: Axel, what is your vision about the automotive market?

Axel Maschka: The vision for the global automotive market focuses on sustainability and innovation. In line with this, global players will introduce various technologies and strategies for the future of mobility. Software-defined vehicles, eco-friendly cars, and fully autonomous driving technologies are key elements of the future mobility market.

It was a pleasure to be invited by Dr. Khasha Ghaffarzadeh to give a lecture at Techblick, explaining our DVN vision on smart surfaces for automotive interiors. Techblick gathered more than 650 experts on flexible, additive manufacturing of electronics, printed electronics, and related fields from all business areas— »GAFA » (Google, Apple, Facebook Amazon), aerospace, military, healthcare, research institute, university and automotive sectors—to share their research.

Interior lighting was a bit less in my focus area during the last six years at Volvo Cars; I was focusing on exterior lighting. Previously during my time on the Renault lighting team, I did handle interior lighting. So, is interior lighting part of exterior lighting or part of the interior department at an automaker?

At electronica 2024 in Munich, the international electronics industry demonstrated that digital technologies are the key to achieving a carbon-neutral future. From 12 to 15 November, 3,480 exhibitors presented their innovations across the entire spectrum of electronics to about 80,000 visitors in 18 exhibition halls at the International Congress Center Messe München. 

I had the pleasure to be invited by Jan Helmig and Jochen Hardt at Covestro HQ located in Chempark, Leverkusen.

The heart and soul and clear focus of IFAL is science. The majority of the presentations were scientific. Many young scientists took the opportunity to present their results and findings. A nice marketplace for fresh talent.
