I took time to check lamp activation on a variety of cars, to see if they comply with UN R48 Series 07, the new Series 08 (mandatory for new vehicle types from January 2023 and all types from September 2027), or the newest Series 09 amendments (mandatory for new types from September 2027 and all types from September 2030).

More than 500 persons gathered in Paris La Villette on 16-17 October for SIA VISION, the biennial symposium organized by SIA (Société des Ingénieurs Automobiles, the French SAE), including 41 exhibitors and more than 120 different companies, to talk about lighting and ADAS.

I had the pleasure to visit the West Coast of Sweden—Gothenburg, Northern Europe’s automotive hub. I was visiting Lynk & Co Design as a sort of distant cousin (Volvo Cars employee when I was working in Gothenburg).

DVN was invited by Jürgen Ewald to visit the company ORAFOL Europe GmbH in Oranienburg. Jürgen Ewald is an old friend back from my university time in Darmstadt. He took his time to guide me around the company for a half a day and he presented many surprises.

Audi have just released their final opus of Quadrilogy of new vehicles. After the Q6 e-tron, A5, and A6 e-tron, it’s time now for the new Q5.

The first generation of Q5 started in 2008 with 1.6 million sold units. For generation 2, production moved from Ingolstadt to Mexico, and will remain in Mexico for the newly-current 3rd generation—it’s the 5th generation of front lighting package for the Q5, counting facelifts.

Vivek Jindal serves as a Whole-Time Director at Uno Minda and CEO of that company’s Lighting & Acoustics Systems domain. He is also a Director at Minda Westport Technologies and Minda Onkyo India. Additionally, he serves as a Director at Clarton Horns Spain and Mexico, where he successfully facilitated the merger and acquisition of the Spanish entity into Uno Minda.
